Obituary:
Daniel Stimmel, son of Yost and Hannah Magdalene Stoker, Stimmel, died at his residence, six miles south of Columbus, Ohio, April 29, 1863. Daniel Stimmel was in the seventy second year of age. How solemn were the closing scenes of this dying man. Justice, truth, and virtue were the pillars of his character. At all times and at all places he was loyal to his convictions of faith, duty, and his servant toward God. His conscience unseared by passion, or self indulgence, spoke solemnly and was heard. He early embraced with a warm and ardent faith, the will of God, as recorded in his word, the lessons of which he was daily reading. He was born in Frederick County, Maryland, and at the age of 18 years, he connected himself with the Lutheran Denomination, and with them continued to worship until his last sickness detained him from the House of God. A disease increased upon him and the probabilities of his recovering diminished and the calmness of his spirit and firmness of faith were never for a moment disturbed. Often raising his voice in a low soft whisper, exclaming, "I am ready and willing to die. I desire to leave this world of trouble and go home to rest in Heaven."
His bereaved friends and family duly mourn his loss, but their loss is his gain. May they be prepared to meet him where sorrow never comes and pleasure never dies. His disease was dropsy and consumption from which he suffered exceedingly.
