Obituary;
Benjamin Stimmel, born 30 June 1827, to Daniel and Mary Landes, Stimmel, was united in marriage to Charlotte Smith, 28 July 1853. She was born 26 Aug. 1834. To this union ten children were born. Daniel Boone, Benjamin S., Francis Marion, John E., William R., Ira Carl, Amer Reece, Wilbert P., Oscar M., and Mary E.. They lived a few years in Franklin Co., Ohio. Then moved to Tazwell Co., Illinois, where they reared their family. Later Benjamin moved to a farm near Nashville, Kansas. Some of the children who moved with him were Francis Marion, William R., Ira Earl, Wilbert P., Oscar M., and Mary Ellen.
Benjamin died 10 Jul. 1894 at the age of 70 years. Charlotte his wife, died 1917 at the age of 83. Benjamin S. Stimmel is buried in the Old Bross Cemetery. Located one half mile east, 2 miles North, and back East 3/4 mile of Nashville, Ks. Three of his young sons are buried near him. They are: William R. Stimmel, 29 Feb. 1885, Wilbert P. Stimmel, 30 Apr. 1892, Oscar M. Stimmel, 10 May 1892, age 19. The other two were 21.
Soon after the death of Benjamin, Charlotte moved with her son Francis, (others of the Stimmel family may have moved also) to the Loyal, OK. area or near Henessey, OK. during a land run. He first lived about four miles East of Loyal, OK. He united in marriage to Miss Elnora Patrick on 4 Jul. 1900. Two children, Nelle Evelyn and Viola Marguerite were born while living here. In 1906 "Frank" moved with his family, mother Charlotte, and brother Ira, to a farm Southeast of Woodward, OK. Six children were born after their move to their farm one mile West, four miles South, one mile West, and back South 1/4 mile of Mooreland, OK. They are: Francis Marion, Faye Elnora, Jessie Charlotte, Floyd Dale, Edith Eliza, and Lloyd Elsworth.
Frank's mother lived with him and his family until she passed away 12 Nov. 1917. Charlotte Smith Stimmel is buried in the "New Home Cemetery" six miles East of Loyak, OK. next to her daughter Mary Ellen. Mary Ellen Stimmel was 20 years and 20 days old when she passed away.
