General:

Francis Marion Stimmel, "Frank" to his family and friends, son of Benjamin and Charlotte Stimmel was born 6 miles south of Columbus, Ohio, 8 December 1859. When he was two years old he moved with his family to Tazewell County, Illinois, and moved again in 1876 to a farm near Hutchinson, Kansas, later near Kingman, Kansas, where he resided until the opening of the Cherokee Strip in April of 1892 when he homesteaded near Kingfisher (Loyal) Oklahoma. Frank was 33 years old. He was 5 feet and 9 inches tall. He weighed 145 pounds. He rode a little black mare when made the run. He was called back home in June 1892 to care for his brother until his brother passed away. Francis was converted to the Lutheran Faith when he was a small child, and was guided by its belief throughout his life. He later attended the Methodist Church. He was a man of sterling qualities alive to the happenings of the day with a keen sense of humor that made him beloved by all who knew him. He was a man that was proud of his family and was indeed a loving husband, a kind father, and a good neighbor. He was quite active until January of this year when he suffered a stroke. He departed this life 24 March 1940, at his home southwest of Mooreland, OK. being 80 years, 3 months, and 16 days.
Elnora, Nora to her family and friends, continued to live on the farm until her death 13 April 1968 in the Woodward Hospital following a short illness. Elnora Patrick was born near Green City, MO., on 2 Dec 1879. At the age of 17 she came to Oklahoma to Kingfisher County, and after six years of marriage she moved with her family to her present home. She was a member of the Christian Church at Mutual, Oklahoma. They are both buried in the Dunlap Cemetery West of Mutual, OK. Two of the children of Frank and Nora are not living. First their oldest daughter Nelle Evelyb and Charles Garrett home caught fire and Nelle and Charles did not survive the fire, but Nelle lived until September 28, 1977. Floyd's wife Ellen died of cancer January 24, 1980. Floyd died of a heart attack at his home June 11, 1990.
There are no Grandsons of Francis Marion Stimmel to carry on our line of the Stimmel family. Floyd and Lloyd Stimmel still live on the farm SW of Mooreland, OK.
When Charlotte Stimmel moved with her sons Frank and Ira to their farms south of Mooreland, Oklahoma, she proved up on the northeast 80 acres of section 20-22-19 and the northwest 80 acres of section 21-22-19 two miles west and four miles south of Mooreland, OK.
Ira Stimmel proved up on 160 acres of land in the northwest quarter of section 20-22-19 two miles West and four miles south of Mooreland, OK.
